First summer both of my sons attended Little Harvard. They were happy, well fed and coming out of COVID lockdown. My older son has phased out and is now in TCHS Geometry and just made the basketball team but my younger son is now back at Little Harvard.
He's always enjoyed school but he is absolutely thrilled every day when he comes home from school, gushing about how great the teachers are, how wonderful his friends are, what he's learning. He told me about a child who cried when asked to introduce herself and it impressed me when my son said the teachers taught everyone to be inclusive, loving and no one made fun of her, just tried to help her.
This is the environmental I want my son in- to learn to be kind, while having fun and learning. Really loving this place right now.
If you're not near Arcadia School District, look up Chiao Hsin in Walnut and Monterey Park. These two so far are great for us!!! After my younger son phases out, my daughter will definitely be going next if we still live here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelly P.Covina, CA1420850Sep 21, 2022
This is a high quality after school program. They help your child with tutoring in math and writing. Mr. Nelson and Ms. Grace run the program. They are always available for questions and are very helpful. Your child's grades will improve. They send home work that is challenging and not too easy, yet it is still appropriate for your child's grade level. I would recommend them as a parent. They also do spelling bees which help reinforce skills learned throughout the school year so they aren't forgotten.

i love this place. my older boys went the the program and now my little girl is here. to be honest she didn't want to come when i first told her i signed her up for the summer, so i did just half day. then she. asked for full day and afterschool sessions.
mr nelson is always so caring and helpful. he tries to help every child when they need extra help. it's a class environment and they have their own booklet to work on to keep the kids ahead of the game, worth the investment for your children.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alpha L.Los Angeles, CA1218620Sep 4, 2019
I'm so happy I found this gem! My son who is a 2nd grader has attended other after school programs (NEO, Right at School) and he said he is enjoying his time at Little Harvard. When I asked him about his teacher, he said he really likes her (my son is pretty blunt... and he didn't have the same things to say about his teachers at a nearby after school... just yesterday he told me the director bonked him on his head 1.5 years ago ~ first time I'm hearing about this ~ but I assume she bonked him lightly to get his attention. Either way, it left an impression on him and he still remembers when I asked him how he likes Little Harvard compared to his old after school). Truly what is most important for me is to find a program where my child feels encouraged and cared for to build his confidence.
The directors, Mr. Nelson and Ms. Grace, both have been very helpful and kind. They both seem passionate about teaching their students. One time Mr. Nelson showed me a project that some older kids were doing with the new 3D printer they have and it was quite impressive. I had never seen a 3D printer before and it was cool they had one for the children's benefit.
They help me pick up my child from Highland Oaks, help him with his homework (this alleviates parent's need to help their kids with their homework), and they have a supplemental curriculum which reinforces what they are learning in school and teaches them things above and beyond what he is learning. After the class is over, kids can play on their computers as they wait for someone to pick them up. My son likely looks forward to this daily. Pick up is until 6:30pm and this makes for one happy kid and one happy working mom where I don't need to worry about his homework or academics!! I highly recommend Little Harvard.
One tip is to get on their wait list early! They do fill up fast and space is limited. I did wait a year until my child got into their program. It was worth the wait!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thomas W.El Monte, CA42115Jul 14, 2019
I just want to say a great thank you to this tutoring location. When I was just a wee little lad I had the pleasure of learning from ms. Lori Lin who taught me geometry. Because of her I was able to get into Berkeley. I wonder how she is doing today. :)

We are going on our second year at Little Harvard and very satisfied with our experience thus far.
The director and asst director are very approachable. They both seem to really care about the well being of the students. They do seem to prefer issues to be communicated through them rather than directly with the teachers so some may perceive this as perhaps less teacher empowerment but we think this is appropriate considering the setting and the scale of the school. It reduces friction between students and teachers and the "he said she said" issues.
We have had a few personal issues where our children were the bad kid as well as the good kid, and as a parent having to deal with issues on both sides, we feel the staff have handled issues fairly.
The school is well organized, clean and secure. teachers are personable and caring. We greatly appreciate the attention to detail on helping with homework and the reminders to ensure we are helping our children with assignments where parent involvement is necessary. We have the peace of mind that when we pick up the children we don't have to worry about homework and just focus on the "fun things" for the rest of the evening.
The school is not especially or overly academically focused. In other words, if you are looking for your children to bring home more homework on top of what the regular school provides... Or if you are looking to over stress your children with more academics, this place is not for you.
In the spirit of constructive review, my only suggestion is to offer healthier lunch options or snacks when it is made available. However, the school has no issues heating up food from home which is much appreciated.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - mary s.Temple City, CA04438Jun 30, 2020
Little Harvard has exceeded my expectations. Mr. Nelson has been providing parents with learning packages to make sure our kids continue to learn.

My friend recommended me to this after school. It is located in Arcadia, so majority of the students are Asian. The school is a good size; it takes up almost the whole block and the classrooms are clean, new, and air-conditioned.
Unlike most other after schools, this school does not offer Saturday classes such as Chinese, kung fu, dancing etc. To me, it shows the school's focus is on students' academic improvement rather than profit making.
Another feature I really like about this school is the students' workbooks are returned to parents bi-weekly. Some other after schools return students' workbooks only monthly , quarterly or not at all. The workbooks become so thick by the time parents receive them back. Also there is no time for the parents to review and address any problems.
The school director is also approachable and available always. She really took immediate action when I commented about an issue I had regarding my daughter's teacher. Her manner is very professional and responsible.
This school has been in business for almost 20 years with a good reputation. It is hard to get in because it always has a long waiting list. Recent years many newer after schools use similar name to attract customers which might cause confusion to parents.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Jen T.Temple City, CA051Jun 29, 2020
I highly recommend Little Harvard. My son has been going to Little Harvard since summer of 2019. I have inquired with various after school and asked friends for recommendation as my son was starting first grade that year. One of my friends highly recommended Little Harvard. I've also heard good things about the school from my son's kindergarten classmate, when I volunteered to be a chaperon on one of their school field trips. She said she has a brother that also goes to Little Harvard and she was really looking forward to join his brother at Little Harvard. We're very thankful that we have made the right decision. My son really like it there. Both teachers and staff are very nice and friendly. They help students with their homework and the school also provides supplemental lessons to help student thrive in school. The school bus pick up service and late pick up hours are very convenient to working parents. Principal Nelson, really cares about the progress and safety of all the students. We are truly grateful to have found such a great school.

My son is currently enrolled in the first grade. My wife's 2 cousins as well as my niece spent their after school and summer programs at this institution. The teachers and staff here at Little Harvard do an excellent job in preparing their students for school. They are constantly improving as well as adding new courses to keep their students motivated. My son loves spending time at Little Harvard and I feel that my son is ready for first grade. Credit to Mrs. Grace and Mr. Nelson for making this all possible. Thank you.
